Keeping memories alive

8-year-old David Patrick helps his Uncle Bob Cloutier lay a cross during the rememberance day ceremony at the Marysville cenotaph in Fredericton, NB, November 11, 2000. They were laying it on behalf of David's grandfather (Bob's Dad) Jean Paul Cloutier who served as a stretcher bearer with the Van Deaux regiment in the Second World War. Below, Sgt. at Arms Ed Ferris, left, of the Marysville Royal Canadian Legion Branch #15 salutes during the ceremony as legion member Butch Bailey watches 4 year-old Gage Merrett play on a field gun during the service. The gun to the vets brings back memories of war, while to the child it is just a toy to play on.
